About PICSE

The Primary Industry Centre for Science Education (PICSE), is a National Strategy of collaboration between universities, their regional communities and local primary industries, to attract students into tertiary science and to increase the number of skilled professionals in agribusiness and research institutions. PICSE is the national infrastructure for a supply chain that provides the next generation of researchers and industry scientists. The Primary Industries targeted by PICSE are those which focus on the sciences of agriculture, aquaculture, ecology, horticulture, fisheries, water security, sustainability, climate change and the environment.

Currently PICSE’s financial partners are DEEWR, GRDC, UTAS, UWA, Flinders Uni, UNE, USC, USQ, GrowSmart Training (SA), HAL, Fisheries RDC, Dairy Australia, Cotton RDC and the Cotton CRC. The Federal Government has invested $3.6m over 3 years, the PICSE Universities and University Centres invest between $50,000 to $150,000 pa (matched by PICSE National) and RDCs and CRCs invest between $30,000 to $150,000 pa.
